F. Nicholas Factoran

F. Nicholas Factoran is a southern California native. He holds a B.A. in Dance from California State University, Fullerton where he has performed and choreographed for four years. He has trained with modern dance educators Gladys Kares, Debra Noble, and Robin Johnson, who all used Nick in original dance works. He also studied ballet and jazz with Barbara Arms and Macarena Gandarillas. Nick was invited, as a featured dancer in Mike Esperanza's "Cells", to the 2004 American College Dance Festival at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. Later that year, one of Nick’s works, "Wearing Thin", was selected as a finalist at the McCallum Theatre’s Dance Under the Stars Choreography Festival in Palm Desert, CA. In 2005, Nick produced 12’x16’, a celebration of big dance in the small space of the Grand Central Theatre in Santa Ana, CA. He also teaches Contact Improvisation workshops at CSUF, and continues to choreograph for their main stage show. More recently, he has studied with contemporary dance artists, Holly Johnston, Bradley Michaud, and the critically acclaimed dance company Diavolo Dance Theatre. He was a member of Diavolo for three years as a performer, teacher and Assistant Technical Director under the direction of Jacques Heim. With Diavolo, Nick has traveled to South Korea, Brazil, Italy and throughout the United States.

In addition to being a contemporary dancer and choreographer, Nick is always trying to find new ways to move. He is skilled on a number of circus apparatuses, including Jumping Stilts, Wall Trampoline and Cyr Wheel. You can see his work on the Cyr Wheel with his company Spinnovation.

Nick is glad to be a part of the growing scene of Contemporary Dance in Los Angeles.  So far, he has performed with Invertigo in Reeling and helped to lead a performance-workshop for InvertED at Inner-City Arts.
