Abraham Ponce Diaz
Abraham Ponce Díaz was born in México City. He has a degree in Dance from the Universidad Veracruzana. He helped organize the Award for Best Choreography “Guillermina Bravo” and several years of the Festival Veracruzano de Danza Contemporánea. He was a member of “Vera–Danza” dance company since 1998 until 2005, where he gave over 100 performances. In 2001 he was granted a IVEC-FOECA scholarship. He was a guest performer in the 2004 ITI-UNESCO Theater and Dance Congress at Tampico, Tamaulipas where choreographer Gerardo Delgado invited him to dance in his company. That same year he danced with the Ballet de Camaguey, in Cuba. In 2005 he became member of Compañía Jorge Domínguez, in Tijuana .That same year he received the CONACULTA – FONCA scholarship MEXICO EN ESCENA, as a resident artist for a Mexican dance company.
In 2006 he was granted the FONCA scholarship again in the contemporary dance artist category. With that scholarship, he commissioned a duet by Laura Karlin and performed for the first time in Los Angeles. He is very happy to have the opportunity to return the LA to work with Laura and Invertigo Dance Theatre.
Abraham danced with Invertigo in their February 2008 show Leap Year Waltzes, etc.
