Invertigo’s Fall Soiree took place on September 15, 2018 at the historic Sowden House in Los Feliz.
The venue was enchanting, the dancers divine, and our beautiful community was there to lift us up. We are still reeling from the magical evening, which included heartfelt speeches in honor of our community partners: Independent Shakespeare Company, Kayne Eras Center, Electric Lodge, and Hope Street Family Center. The Invertigo dancers also performed mesmerizing, immersive, and site-specific works in various areas of the home, including the master bath, the Aquarium room, a bedroom, a Koi pond, and the around the pool. Thank you to all who joined us and made the night one to remember. Check out the event gallery to the right for photos of this special event.
All proceeds directly benefit Invertigo’s community programs:
Dancing Through Parkinson's, Invert/ED & the Invertigo performance company.
About the Sowden House
The Sowden House was built in 1926 by Lloyd Wright (eldest son of Frank Lloyd Wright), for his friends John and Ruth Sowden. The design is purposefully theatrical to cater to the original owners’ aesthetic and lavish Hollywood lifestyle during the Roaring Twenties. Now, the 6,000 square-foot mansion, located on Franklin Avenue in Los Feliz, has been renovated to “evoke a sense of mystery and exoticism”. Featuring a distinct Mayan pyramid-inspired facade, a secluded inner courtyard, and four renovated wings, the Sowden House truly is one-of-a-kind. Every room of the house faces the interior courtyard, which shelters a secluded pool and jacuzzi. Infamous for its distinctive design and colorful history, the Sowden House has hosted everything from photoshoots and non-profit events to films and TV shows. In 2003, the house was listed as a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument.
