Chelsea Roquero (she/her), born in Escondido, CA, is a first generation Filipino-American dancer based in LA. Roquero grew up as a gymnast and progressively found her love for Hip Hop dance in her early years. She later started her formal dance training at San Diego Mesa College under the direction of Donna Flournoy. She then transferred to California State University, Long Beach in 2017, and later received her BA in Dance in 2019. She is interested in blending her backgrounds in hip hop and gymnastics with contemporary technique alongside being able to incorporate human emotion and tactile sensation in her movement. She has trained with Melissa Adao, Rebecca Lemme, Gracie Whyte, and Keith Johnson–along with the opportunities to perform works by Local LA Artist Camila Arana, Invertigo Dance Theatre, and Carlon Dance. As well as been a Guest Artist with Los Angeles Contemporary Dance Company. You can find Chelsea most of her days at Stomping Ground L.A., a new dance space owned and founded by Kate Hutter-Mason, where she is a current team member. She is very proud to be a part of a team that continually works on ways to continually grow in providing accessibility and joy to our local LA dance artists and our surrounding communities.
