Chelsea Roquero started her dance career at San Diego Mesa College and later transferred to California State University, Long Beach where she proceeded to graduate with her BA in Dance. She is very interested in blending her background in hip hop and gymnastics with contemporary technique finding opportunities to create continuity in flow and staccato movement. Roquero’s movement is inspired by the articulation of the body and finding pathways through and in space. After working in release technique with Rebecca Lemme (Acts of Matter), release of the body has become an essential standard and reminder to release the body and mind. Roquero has had opportunities to dance for Invertigo Dance Theatre and Carlon Dance and train with Gracie Whyte, Keith Johnson and Alex Ketley. She seeks to be relatable to those who are watching, especially in an art form where the body defies the norm.
