Melissa Valenzuela

Melissa Valenzuela is a Los Angeles–based movement artist. She began her early training at Elements Dance Space in Pasadena, where she competed at both regional and national levels. Melissa went on to earn her BFA in Dance from California State University, Long Beach, graduating magna cum laude in 2023. Following graduation, she attended Jacob’s Pillow as a dancer  through the Ann and Weston Hicks Choreography Fellowship. She has further expanded her training through programs including Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Springboard Montréal, FlockWorks, LA Contemporary Dance Company, Acts of Matter Focused Study, and JumpStart LA.

Melissa has taught at numerous schools and studios, worked with Invertigo Dance Company directed by Laura Karlin and Indigo Dance Company directed by Dani Burd. Melissa is currently in her second season performing with MashUp Contemporary Dance Company, an all-female company dedicated to empowering women and uplifting their voices within the dance community.
